When We Don’t Share The Same Beliefs

Hi Thirsty Ladies,

I’m a 32 year old guy raised in a typical filipino family. I went to catholic school and was forced by my mom to hear mass every sunday. I guess you could say that I was a “forced practicing” catholic. This all changed when I turned 30. Problems with my career led me to deepen my faith and relationship with God. I know, this all sounds well and good, right? Well, here is the issue. I’ve been with my girlfriend for 8 years. She is not a practicing catholic nor does she practice any sort of religion. She refuses to participate when I ask her to hear mass with me on sundays. Rosary session during the pandemic- another NO. Even something as simple as praying before meals, she does not want to take part in. I feel like I am in a very happy and stable place in my life and I’m ready to take things to the next level. I love her and 2 years ago, I was sure she was THE ONE. But I am not sure I can be married to someone who doesn’t share the same beliefs. Is this a deal breaker? Should I let our differences in faith end our relationship?

Love,
